I already know what I’d buy.
And surprisingly, it wouldn’t be a Seiko.
It wouldn’t be a Tissot.
And it definitely wouldn’t be something I’d buy hoping to make money on later.

Now, if I’m being completely honest, I usually gravitate towards slightly larger watches.
But this is one of those rare occasions where I’d happily make an exception because the proportions work so well with the overall design.

This is where Christopher Ward consistently gets things right.
At around the £800 mark, you’re getting excellent finishing, a Swiss automatic movement, thoughtful design, and a watch that feels genuinely considered from top to bottom.
That’s becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Many watches in this price bracket force you to compromise somewhere. The movement. The finishing. The design.
The Dune Aeolian doesn’t feel like a compromise.
It feels like a watch that knows exactly what it wants to be.
A watch that feels a little different
One of the things I enjoy most about this watch is that you don’t see them everywhere.
Rolex is instantly recognisable.
Omega isn’t far behind.
But Christopher Ward still feels like a brand for people who genuinely enjoy watches rather than simply buying the most recognisable name available.
There’s something refreshing about that.
It’s a watch that often starts conversations rather than ending them.
What would you buy for £800?
If somebody handed me £800 today and told me to buy a watch for myself, this would be at the top of the list.
Not because it’s trendy. Not because it’s hyped.
And certainly not because I expect it to become a future collector’s item.
I’d buy it because I genuinely like it.
That’s the beauty of collecting.
For every collector choosing a Christopher Ward, someone else is choosing a Seiko, Hamilton, Tissot, Longines, or a vintage bargain they’ve spent months hunting down.
There isn’t a wrong answer.
But for me, the C65 Dune Aeolian would take some beating.
